What does YSL Black Opium smell like?
YSL Black Opium is a sweet, warm and rich fragrance with coffee, white flowers and vanilla as main accords. The top notes are pear, pink pepper and orange blossom. The middle notes are coffee, jasmine, bitter almond and licorice. The base notes are vanilla, cedar and cashmere wood.

As for vanilla fragrances, I still dream of Dior’s Hypnotic Poison I think it’s called. (red bottle)
What other vanilla / gourmand / oriental fragrances can you recommend?
I haven’t tried Lush Sikkim Girls, in fact I haven’t tried any Lush fragrances. I should check them out. I’m not a big fan of gourmand fragrances myself, my favorite perfumes are usually green floral scents, but the white flower accords of YSL Black Opium nicely tone down the sweet notes and is one of the few gourmand fragrances I can wear for hours. I also love oriental fragrances, my favorite ones are Dior Addict, Chanel Coco Noir, Calvin Klein Euphoria and Gucci Guilty.
If you like green florals – Lush has a fragrance called Kerbside Violet which is both of these things! 💐

What I like about Lush is that their fragrances are quite non traditional and interesting. Traditional department store fragrances can smell too… similar to me sometimes, not sure what it is with me.
Yes, I´m very much into clean beauty, I can´t help it! I feel if a product works and it´s also non-toxic, it´s a bonus and if it´s also sustainable, it´s a double bonus. Traditional department stores want to sell what sells and they go with the trends. Now is all about gourmand fragrances and you are right, they actually tend to smell quite similar. I´m sure if you have nice words about Lush fragrances is because they are worth it. I like discovering new beauty products so Lush fragrances are now on my wish list!
I loved this perfume on my friend, but when I tried it myself it was awful! Kinda hate how perfumes are like that. My fave at the moment is either the Chloe Eau de Parfum or Ellie Saab White.
This is the thing with perfumes really. You have to try them on your own skin to see how they evolve with your pH and then value. In the past I threw so many fragrances away beacuse I had only tested them on samples, but not on my actual skin. Chloe Eau de Parfum and Ellie Saab White are both divine!

Thank you for your comment! I have been using YSL Black Opium since December last year and in my case it starts really sweet, but it slowly tones down and the floral accents become more prominent. That´s why I love so much!
