What does DIOR Escale à Portofino smell like?
DIOR Escale à Portofino is essencially a citrus aromatic fragrance. Top notes are bergamot, lemon and petitgrain. Middle notes are orange blossom, juniper berries and almond. Base notes are cypress, cedar, galbanum, musk and caraway.

Classically fresh and clean, DIOR Escale à Portofino initially smells of sparkling sweet lemons to slowly evolve into bright orange blossom with an almost imperceptible hint of almond. In the drydown, it’s essentially orange blossom with a soft woody base.

There are many amazing citrusy fragrances out there, but somehow, DIOR Escale à Portofino always caused a lasting impression on me since I first tried it back in 2008. Every time I crosssed a counter where the fragrance was avaiblable to sample, I could not resist to spray it on my wrists. I always found the fragrance simply delghtful, but I never got round to buy a bottle. A couple of months ago I was looking for a super fresh summer fragrance to take on holiday and DIOR Escale à Portofino came to mind. After many years, this was my chance to finally get a bottle.

The longevity of DIOR Escale à Portofino is pretty good. Considering a fresh eau de toilette is not expected to last for hours, DIOR Escale à Portofino unexpectedly lingers for quite some time on skin. However, projection is not its best feature. It starts bright and refreshing with a moderate projection that fades after a couple of hours to then only be percieved at close in the close distances but you don’t need to go all the way to the skin to smell it. Quite surprisingly, the fragrance stays forever in clothes. I love spraying it inside my wardrobe, so every time I open it, a delicate wave of citrus freshness invades my bedroom.
