Como persona concienciad con la salud y el bienestar, he ido reemplazando gradualmente mis cosméticos convencionales por alternativas naturales y sin tóxicos. Al tener los ojos muy sensibles y las pestañas muy finas y frágiles, la máscara de pestañas fue el primer producto en el que me centré en reemplazar por una alternativa natural y sin tóxicos.

As a health-conscious person, I’ve been gradually switching to clean beauty replacing my conventional beauty products for clean alternatives. Having very sensitive eyes and really thin, fragile lashes, mascara was the first product I focused on replacing with a non-toxic alternative.

Conventional mascaras can include some real nasties in their formulations like parabens, propylene glycol, coal tar and aluminium powder. I love wearing mascara to enhance my very thin lashes and I actually wear masccara daily. With very sensitive eyes highly prone to irritation, clean mascara has proven to be the safest way to keeep my eyes healthy without compromising on beautiful lashes.

Ingredientes nocivos a evitar en las máscaras de pestañas Harmful ingredients to avoid in mascaras

Ingredientes que se deberían evitar por completo:

• Tintes de alquitrán de hulla
• Parabenos
• Polvo de aluminio
• Formaldehído
• Acetato de retinilo

Estos químicos nocivos pueden causar reacciones alérgicas como enrojecimiento, picor, molestias e inflamación. Algunos de estos ingredientes se han relacionado con alteraciones endocrinas, toxicidad reproductiva y neurológica y algunos de ellos incluso se consideran cancerígenos. Ojalá alguien me hubiese advertido de esto hace veinte años.

Ingredients that should be totally avoided:

• Coal tar dyes
• Parabens
• Aluminium powder
• Formaldehyde
• Retinyl acetate

These harmful chemicals can cause allergic reactions such as redness, itching, discomfort and inflammation. Some of these ingredients have been linked to endocrine disruption, reproductive and neurological toxicity, and some of them are even considered carcinogen. I wish someone had warned me about this twenty years ago.

Personalmente, una máscara de pestañas se convierte en favorita si cumple todos estos requisitos:

• It lenghtens, volumises and defines my lashes.
• It doesn’t smudge clump or flake.
• It washes off easily.

He probado muchas máscaras de pestañas naturales y sin tóxicos en los últimos cinco años y puedo decir que han evolucionado mucho en los últimos dos años. En esta publicación voy a compartir mis cinco favoritas.

I tried many clean mascaras over the past five years, and I can honestly say clean mascaras have come a long way over the last couple of years. In this post I’m going to share my top five favorite clean mascaras.

GREEN PEOPLE Volumising Mascara

Esta es una de las primeras máscaras de pestañas naturales y sin tóxicos que probé y sigo comprándola una y otra vez porque me encanta lo bien que funciona. GREEN PEOPLE Volumising Mascara es una excelente máscara de pestañas para uso diario. Se aplica fácilmente a capas sin crear grumos y ni manchar, lo que la convierte en la máscara de pestañas perfecta para aplicar por las mañanas cuando se tiene prisa.

This is one of the first clean mascaras I’ve ever tried and I keep buying it on repeat as I love how it performs. GREEN PEOPLE Volumising Mascara is an excellent mascara for everyday use. It layers well without clumping and it applies effortlessly without resulting messy, which makes the mascara to apply in the mornings when you are in a rush.

Esta es la máscara que utilizo cuando quiero pestañas de alto impacto. Es mi máscara de pestañas preferida para ocasiones especiales y salidas nocturnas. Me encanta lo largas, curvadas y llenas que quedan mis pestañas después de dos capas de esta máscara, logrando una apariencia casi de pestañas postizas fácilmente con su aplicador con forma de reloj de arena.

This is the mascara I reach for when I want high impact lashes. It’s my go-to mascara for special events and nights out. I love how long, curved and full my lashes look after two coats of this mascara, achieving an almost ‘falsies’ look effortlessly with the hourglass shape wand.

INIKA Bold Lash Mascara

Esta es la última incorporación a mi colección de máscaras naturales y sin tóxicos y debo decir que me está causando una muy buena impresión. Esta máscara de pestañas vegana es perfecta si te gustan las pestañas definidas, separadas, largas y rizadas con una capa fina de producto. Va genial para rizar y alargar las pestañas con un acabado súper delicado, no del tipo postizo, acartonado y grumoso del que no soy nada fan.

This is the latest addition to my clean mascara collection and I must say this mascara is leaving a lasting impression on me. This vegan mascara is really good if you like defined, separated, long and curled lashes coated in weightless product. It works wonders to curl and lengthen lashes with a natural look, not the kind of fake, stiff, clumpy finish, which I’m not  particularly fond of.

Me encanta el aplicador de esta máscara de pestañas. Es un cepillo de tamaño mediano con cerdas cortas y densas. Es uno de los cepillos más fáciles de usar que he probado.

I really love the wand of this mascara. It’s a medium-sized wand with and short dense bristles. This is one of the most user-friendly, no fuss wands I”ve ever tried.

La fórmula vegana de INIKA Bold Lash Mascara con ingredientes 100% de origen natural, como corteza de magnolia, vitamina E y aceite de girasol, se puede reaplicar infinitamente y crea pestañas preciosas fácilmente. Permanece inalterable durante horas, pero no es resistente al agua.
